  • Episode #3 – Shoplifters (万引き家族)

    A Japanese couple stuck with part-time jobs and hence inadequate incomes avail themselves of the fruits of shoplifting to make ends meet. They are not alone in this behaviour. The younger and the older of the household are in on the act. The unusual routine is about to change from carefree and matter-of-fact to something more dramatic, however, as the couple open their doors to a beleaguered young girl. The reasons for the family's habit and their motivations come under the microscope.

  • Episode #2 – Kamikaze Girls (下妻物語)

    Momoko Ryugasaki is the daughter of a small-time gangster that forges Versace brand and a lowlife woman. Momoko is smitten by the Rococo period and dresses in a Lolita style, with frilly dresses and embroidery bonnet. She is raised by her father since her mother divorced him to marry her gynecologist, and he has taught her how to perfectly embroider. When Mr. Ryugasaki includes the Universal Studios brand in his products, he is forced to move to the rural Shimotsuma with Momoko to live in the house of her grandmother. Momoko decides to sell her collection of forged Versace and Universal Studios to make money to buy her expensive clothing. The rebel "yanki" Ichigo Shirayuri visits Momoko to buy clothes and soon they begin the most unlikely friendship.

  • Episode #1 – Yojimbo (用心棒)

    A nameless ronin, or samurai with no master, enters a small village in feudal Japan where two rival gangsters are struggling for control of the local gambling trade. Taking the name Sanjuro Kuwabatake, the ronin convinces both sides to hire him as a bodyguard, then artfully sets in motion a full-scale gang war between the two in order to rid the town of both criminals.
